Hello World I'm Shane Miller
Short Bio
I’m Shane Miller, a software engineer based in Boulder, Colorado, with over a decade in complex production environments — global financial data platforms, core banking systems, and products I’ve built and shipped myself.
Right now I’m an Applied AI Field Engineer at Trilon Group. I work with a cross-functional team doing onsite deep dives with engineering firms — documenting how the work actually gets done, then building software for the parts worth automating. Mostly deterministic calculation and document tools, and human-in-the-loop AI where every result is reviewable and traceable. So far that has covered GIS and environmental workflows, civil engineering calculations, survey processing, and grant application scoring.
I usually end up in the hard parts of a company. Old code. Fragile flows. Systems no one wants to touch. I can step into a codebase I’ve never seen, trace it carefully, and come back with a fix that doesn’t destabilize everything else. It’s rarely glamorous, but it’s effective.
I know C# deeply from years inside .NET, most recently a core banking platform at Data Center Inc. — ACH processing, reconciliation, and incidents where real money is on the line. Before that, ten years at S&P Global on real-time financial data for institutional clients. Given the choice I prefer frontend engineering; complex UI state and performance problems are usually just puzzles.
Outside of work I build my own products end to end. U-Mail.ai for email productivity, ApplyPro.ai for AI-assisted resumes, now past 400 active users. I own the design, the backend, the payments, and the 2am bug reports. Also, no one else is going to fix my bugs.
There’s a method to how I work. I don’t chase trends, I build things that hold up. If you need someone steady who can navigate complexity and turn ideas into working software, I’m happy to talk.
